Karnataka government is keen to develop a film city in Mysuru, and a proposed policy to promote film tourism is under consideration, which could boost film tourism in Mysore.
Mysore is considered to be the cultural capital of Karnataka.
Kannada Film Academy Chairman S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu is hoping to get the necessary budget for the film tourism proposal.
The proposed film city at Immavu in Mysuru will have good filming infrastructure & facilities, and should see a surge in tourism.
Mr. Babu said that the government was keen on supporting the industry and the move to promote film tourism would boost the image of the cultural capital.
Mysuru is home to several scenic locations, all within a radius of 15 to 20 km, which is great for shooting films. It also has nearly a dozen palaces apart from heritage structures.
