“No great honour than being honoured by Lataji”, says Javed Akhtar

Writer, lyricist Javed Akhtar is a big fan of Lata Mangeshkar and he was all praise for the legendary singer once more, at a recent function.

Javed Akhtar, who was abroad, flew down to India just to receive the Hridaynath Mangeshkar award from the doyen of Indian film music Lata Mangeshkar.

“Greatest honour possible is to be honoured by Lataji”, said Javed Akhtar.

“The contribution of the Mangeshkar family to Indian cinema is illimitable. And Lataji‚Äôs contribution is beyond description. There are some very rare artistes like Shakespeare and Beethoven about whom praise is redundant and irrelevant. Lataji belongs to that category of artistes. Nobody says, ‘Beethoven made good music,’ or ‘Lataji sings well.'”

Lot of Bollywood senior actors and artistes say that Lata Mangeshkar is so full of life, warmth and humour, and laughs in every situation.

“She is oblivious to her incredible achievements. Just being with her is the most inspiring experience.”

Lata Mangeshkar was awarded Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, in 2001.
