Films were never a passion for the star wife, and being a mother and wife were far more important to her. Gauri Khan, the reluctant star wife, who looked happy to be away from the limelight, seems to have come into her own now. Here’s a peek into her business.
Gauri Khan the Business Woman
Khan initially developed an interest in interior design when she was decorating her Mumbai home Mannat, and since has partnered with Sussanne Khan (Hrithik Roshan’s estranged wife) in exclusive property projects as well as her furniture store The Charcoal Company.
Besides producing SRK’s films and co-founding the production company Red Chillies Entertainment alongside SRK, she also established her own interior design store, named The Design Cell, in Mumbai.
Gauri and Suzanne Khan also launched their Goa real-estate project Naira, which they were promoting in Dubai. The project involves setting up 12 luxury villas with limited-edition collection furniture and accessories from The Charcoal Project.
When doing business, she largely goes with her gut feeling.
A portion earned from the Gauri Khan brand will go towards funding the Gauri Khan Foundation.
Gauri Khan’s Signature Line
Gauri Khan recently launched her signature line in Dubai, under the international design and architecture firm The First Ferry who have a presence in London, Singapore and New York. First Ferry chose Gauri because of her impeccable style and taste.
Gauri will address the needs of high-end clients and will extend her skills to home, restaurant, offices, retail space and spa decors. She will consult on landscape design, yacht interiors and will extend the Gauri Khan line of furniture and chandeliers.
Did All This Happen Overnight?
It may seem like she has suddenly launched her career but Gauri has been working on her interior design career for a while. She has been designing private homes and doing her own homes, which were big projects in themselves. She also wanted to gauge whether she loved doing this kind of work enough, to make it her career.
Irrespective, one thing is clear. Gauri is serious about tapping her inner talents and creating a niche for herself!
