Donald Trump Wins: On a day when US was counting votes (and India was counting notes)

While people in US were counting their votes (US presidential elections), those in India were counting their notes (after the Indian government banned 500 and 1000 Rs notes). While India took the step towards fighting black money, America rewarded ‘tax evasion’ as they voted Donald Trump to power.

And going by the reaction worldwide, including India, to Donald Trump’s victory, the message is “America, you’re FIRED”!

Here are some tweets from our celebrities…Surprisingly, Priyanka Chopra, who spends a lot of time in the US nowadays, hasn’t tweeted anything about the victory yet (perhaps, she’s not sure if its a good thing or a bad thing).

Hindu Republicans invite Bollywood stars, request Indian-Americans to vote for Donald Trump

This is another example where the decision of some of the Bollywood stars to perform in the United States could back-fire on them, probably because they’re just looking at the ‘moolah’ and not the ‘politics’ involved.

A group of Hindu Republicans (right wing Hindus) were campaigning for Donald Trump and wanted the Indian-American community to help Donald trump get into the White House.

Chicago-based businessman Shalabh Kumar has already donated nearly $900,000 to Trump’s campaign and took Bollywood’s help for the cause.

Bollywood celebrities, including Shahid Kapoor, Prabhu Deva, and Malaika Arora Khan, were invited for a charity event (in New Jersey), where the guest of honor was Donald Trump himself.

Although the event is termed as a charity event for helping victims of terror around the world, it was a platform to reach out to Indian American supporters for Trump’s presidential bid.

Indians are the second-largest immigrant group in the US and the country’s wealthiest ethnic group, according to US Census data.

But what about Donald Trump’s hard-line stance on immigration. Shalabh Kumar says that Trump’s anti-immigration stance is on “illegal immigration that deals with drugs or terrorism,” and not the ones that come from India.
