Karan Johar was greatly relieved when his movie ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ was allowed a smooth release (the movie’s release date hung in balance because the movie had a Pakistani actor).
However, it seems Karan Johar will have to deal with another controversy; this time the filmmakers were trying to have fun at the expense of a legendary Bollywood singer.
The peace-loving Rafi family is seething with anger because a dialogue in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil ridicules Rafi. The dialogue has Anushka Sharma telling Ranbir Kapoor, “Mohd. Rafi gaate nahi rote the.” The same has incensed the legendary singer’s family and also several of Mohd. Rafi’s fans.

“Is it true that there is a dialogue in Ae dil hai mushkil that says Mohd Rafi gaate kum rote zyaada they?” Sonu tweeted. Meanwhile, another veteran playback singer Mohammed Aziz shared a video on Facebook in which he is seen strongly criticising Karan for incorporating the dialogue in ADHM.
So was there any need to include the dialogue (doesn’t take the story forward or backwards)? Obviously not!
And everybody in India knows about Mohd. Rafi (especially if you’re from the Hindi film industry).
So how come a filmmaker like Karan Johar allowed the dialogue to be used in the film?
I guess, big banner filmmakers (that earn few hundred crores) feel they can have a laugh at anybody’s expense.
