Portfolio picture of Amitabh Bachchan which was rejected by Filmfare in the 60s

There are several superstars in Bollywood and in Indian cinema, and among the greatest of them all is Amitabh Bachchan.

For some reason, we all tend to forget that even these superstars were newcomers at some point of time. They all had to take their first step in the industry, and face failures and disappointment.

Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan is no exception. Even he had a tough time getting into Bollywood, and establishing himself.

Here’s an old picture of Amitabh Bachchan which he had submitted to the Filmfare Madhuri contest, who were looking for new faces to be groomed to enter Bollywood.

And guess what?

Filmfare rejected Amitabh Bachchan. Well, they were looking for handsome faces (Rajesh Khanna was the benchmark back then in the 60s).

While Amitabh had to face disappointment in this case, he did eventually make his debut in the movie ‘Saat Hindustani’. Later he got a Filmfare award for the Best Supporting Actor in the 1971 movie Anand.
