Aamir khan is one of the leading actors of Bollywood and a successful film producer. He’s the man who introduced Bollywood to the 100 crore club (with Ghajini), to the 200 crore club (with 3 Idiots) and to the 300 crore club (with PK).
A great actor and a perfectionist by nature, Aamir is known to choose his movies with care, and is also considered to be a marketing genius. He is not only an actor, but also a writer, producer, and director!
Despite working on fewer films (Aamir does no more than one film a year), Aamir has starred in several big-blockbusters including 3 Idiots and Dhoom 3, and is also a very successful film producer. All the movies that have been produced by Aamir Khan (barring Dhobi Ghat) have been commercial hits (Lagaan was produced by him).
And how much does he charge for every movie?
The actor’s asking price (including profit-sharing at times) is around Rs. 40 crore ($8 to $10 million) per movie. His endorsement fees are Rs. 4 crores per day.
When asked about his earnings, Aamir feels that he probably earns the least in Bollywood, because he does very few films and very few ads. Aamir said that he spent a-year-and-a-half doing ‘Satyamev Jayate’ (television show), which from an economic perspective was not a feasible option and he could have earned much more by doing other films/ads.
Because of his initiatives and eagerness to work in social-awareness, and also because of his popularity, UNICEF has made Aamir Khan their brand ambassador for child nutrition. That was one of the reasons that Bill Gates recently met the perfectionist – to hear about his work as a UNICEF ambassador and also about his TV show, Satyameva Jayate (Truth Alone Prevails).
