There are movies that entertain, that evoke various emotions, and then there are some movies that inspire you to pack everything and head out to explore the world. Travelling is a passion for many, but there are some who are just not able to fulfill their dreams of exploring their dream destinations. And when you watch a well-made movie that features the destination on your wish-list, you just want to throw away everything and wish to be there.
If you’re looking for some more motivation (to plan your next vacation), sit down and watch a couple of these fantastic Bollywood flicks. Few recent Bollywood movies have done quite well in capturing some exotic/popular places.
Here is a list of popular travel movies of Bollywood that have inspired many.
Queen
This movie perfectly captures what most middle-class people in India dream of…travelling to their dream destinations. Most are unable to do it, and money is not the only reason for them. Its just that many (especially women) find it difficult to travel alone (social pressures). This is an excellent movie that also captures Paris and Amsterdam quite well in the movie.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
Shot in some of the most striking locations of Spain, it has changed the way Indians/Asians look towards Spain (earlier a Europe trip for them would almost NOT feature Spain, but not anymore).

Dil Dhadakne Do
Most of the film was shot on a cruise ship and you also get to see the beauty of Turkey. Shooting took place in Antalya, Cappadocia and, mostly, in Istanbul.

Dil Chahta Hai
If you love Goa, by the end of this movie, you would definitely pack your bags and head of to Goa. And because its a movie about friends, you’ll also feel like asking your friends to accompany. The movie is also shot extensively in/around Sydney in Australia.

Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ)
This was the movie that started it all (at least in the last decade or so), inspiring other filmmakers to shoot abroad. It also did a lot to London as a travel destination (no wonder foreign countries want Bollywood to shoot abroad more and more). One of the biggest Bollywood hits ever…train travel, bus rides and car cruises are an integral part of the plot.

Highway
The movie may not have been a commercial success, but it definitely inspires you to get on the road. Men especially can relate to it better, because if you’re a travel buff you surely must have commuted on a truck before (even in Dil Chahta Hai, Saif ali Khan returns from Goa in a truck). Highway covers several exotic places within India.
Patakha Guddi from Highway
Road
Starring by Abhay Deol, the movie captures the beauty of Rajasthan in its most raw form, captivating and visually stunning. The movie shows the picturesque side of the deserts of Rajasthan.
