Going by the number of Bollywood stars who end up appearing on television, it can safely be assumed that the TV is no longer the smaller screen. Bollywood stars are now making a beeline to be a part of the small screen, with several newer names entering the medium that reaches the maximum households, not just in India but across the world. And it seems, the safest bet for the Bollywood stars seem to be the role of judges for various shows. That way they still are looked upon as the ‘boss’ by the various contestants.
Shahid Kapoor in ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’
Shahid is doing well in his film career, and in this case, it’s his love for dance that’s brought him to the small screen (We all know that he’s a terrific dancer). Shasha, who replaced Madhuri Dixit Nene on the show, will be seen taking dance to another level while mentoring aspiring dancers. And we are sure to catch few glimpses of his electic moves during the show as well.
Sonakshi Sinha in ‘Indian Idol Junior’
Junior Shotgun Sonakshi Sinha, who is currently judging the juniors on Indian Idol, is no less than a firebrand herself as a judge. While she looks more in awe of the young musical talents, she takes every opportunity to entertain and lighten the competitive tension with her signature dialogues.
Actress Alia Bhatt, who’s hot property currently in Bollywood, has received several offers to judge shows on television. However, she feels she’s too young to judge them as of now. She doesn’t mind experimenting though, as a singer and being part of music shows.
Lisa Haydon in ‘India’s Next Top Model’
Lisa Haydon made heads turn as a carefree girl in Queen, and since then she has been going strong. Based on the lines of ‘America’s Next Top Model’, Lisa would be making things difficult for young girls aspiring to be models. A popular model herself, Lisa is sure to make things interesting.
Preity Zinta in ‘Nach Baliye’
After an unpleasant venture as a producer, Preity Zinta has started a new innings on Nach Baliye 7. While there were rumors of show makers axing the bubbly actor due to her indisciplined behavior, she has continued to be on the judge’s panel. It will only be TRPs that will do that talking in the end.
Govinda in ‘Dance India Dance Super Mom’
Who knows dance better than Govinda? Yet another debutant as the judge on TV, Govinda’s final performance on DID Super Mom was an instant hit when he brought to stage his most popular co-star from the 90’s Karisma Kapoor.
Sonu Sood in ‘Comedy Ke Superstars’
This Punjabi munda, who has been in high spirits after the success of Happy New Year, will soon be seen donning the judge’s hat in Comedy Ke Superstars. After successfully making a mark in Bollywood and films down South, Sonu seems all set to hit it big on the small screen.
Some of these celebs have been at their peak at some point of their career (they are definitely not there now), so this is probably a good platform for them to stay in the limelight, till they figure out their next act. You never know how the fortunes could change.
